Medicine Bow Technologies (MBT) has chosen DR Systems for the picture archiving communications system (PACS) vendor of choice. DR Systems offers a PACS which allows radiologic images captured on modern digital scanners to be transmitted to physicians for diagnosis. Images and the associated patient data are gathered into studies which are stored on disk-based storage systems in the MBT data center. These studies are made available to referring physicians, radiologists, and other qualified, verified clinical staff over the MBT private network, or over the internet.
Benefits include:
- No upfront cost – pay for the PACS on a per-study basis
- Local training and response
- PACS Administrator provided to assist with PACS management
- Industry leader in PACS solutions
- Images can be viewed immediately if needed, by any preferred physician
- Automated, integrated dictation and transcription options
Our Service Support
For customers that own scanners and operate imaging centers, use of the PACS relieves staff of the technical challenges inherent in collecting, distributing and archiving the study sets. During the PACS installation, MBT will provide organizations with an implementation team, project management, and full installation and configuration of the hardware and databases. MBT also provides a local, experienced contact for all support; response to onsite issues, PACS administration, and connections to MBT’s archiving systems in Laramie.
If your physicians are reading on the PACS system and require assistance, our services include the capability to use remote connection technology to connect to any physician’s workstation in real time, greatly enhancing our ability to train, assist, and problem-solve without visiting your site. Our staff will be available to travel to your site in case the issues can not be resolved remotely.
Our design includes the hardware and software required to obtain a fully functional PACS. The core PACS database servers and disk storage systems are operated in our Laramie Data Center. The PACS servers are mirrored and redundant to protect against systems downtime if a single database server should fail. Because of our ability to share these advanced systems, they are offered to you at a fraction of their actual cost.
Once studies have been relayed to the central database servers, they will be available to your physicians and staff to view from any internet location. This is accomplished using a secure internet access gateway. If you choose to have one of our partner physicians read the study and dictate results, those dictations’ “sound bytes” will be coupled to the study in the PACS storage and will be available to your staff, over the internet or on the LAN Ambassador, for review. Transcribed versions of these results can be auto-faxed back to your location, or to a referring physician, as your needs dictate.
Studies can also be relayed directly from your radiology technologist to a viewing radiologist using a DICOM transfer, which allows for emergency reads or after-hours coverage in “tele-radiology” mode. All of your patient studies are stored on a disk array. As studies age, they will be transferred to a backup storage archive on a secondary disk array at our Denver data center. Once the studies have been placed in the archive, they will remain online and available to you when needed. .
As your organization grows so will your radiology needs. MBT is able to meet your needs as you grow. New functionality is constantly under development in the PACS industry. MBT will ensure that all upgrades are installed as part of your base agreement. However, there are some features that can be installed in addition to the upgrades. This upgrade path includes:
- Ability to send studies from PACS to Laser Cameras
- ADT Interface
- Reports Interface to your health information system (URL Link )
