Medicine Bow Technologies, owned by Ivinson Memorial Hospital, is set to host a Rural Hospital IT Professionals Group. The purpose of this group is to introduce rural hospital IT staff and discuss topics that affect their hospitals, trade ideas, and learn from each other.
Rural hospital IT professionals wear a lot of hats. Quite often they are expected to be experts at security, networking, wireless networking, server management, workstation break/fix, electronic health records system management, secure remote access, HIPAA, transmission of records and electronic communications, mobile device management, and policy writing. In rural settings, sometimes hospitals have just one or two people trying to keep up with all of these facets of technology and it becomes overwhelming. Peer to peer discussions can help expand their resources to call upon.
The group meets by conference call once a month over the lunch hour. While the first topic is Ransomware – Prevention, Detection, and Product Review, future topics include:
- Disaster Recovery/Business Continuity,
- IT Responsibilities with MACRA Reporting,
- EHR User Audits,
- Single Sign On,
- Virtual Desktop Interfaces,
- Writing IT Policies,
- Mobile Device Management, and
- Encryption Product Comparison.
If you work for a Wyoming, Northern Colorado, or Western Nebraska rural hospital and would like to be included in this monthly conference call please contact email@example.com.
